Gabe Farias hopes to succeed father in Texas House

Rep. Joe Farias endorses son following resi­gnation

SAN ANTONIO – Current president of the Westside Chamber of Commerce Gabe Farias has announced his campaign for state representative of House District 118.

The seat was last held by Gabe Farias' father, Joe Farias, who resigned and has endorsed his son.

Also endorsing Gabe Farias, according to his campaign, are Rep. Roland Gutierrez, Councilman Ray Lopez, Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales, former District 3 Councilwoman Jenifer Ramos, Harlandale Board Trustee Juan Mancha, former Harlandale Trustee Velma Ybarra, Northside ISD Board Trustee Gerald Lopez and San Antonio River Authority Board Trustee Jerry Gonzales.

"I'm in the race to continue the standard of service my dad has set for the past 8 1/2 years. I'm here to fight for public education, to support small businesses and to expand access to health care along with continuing the fight for veterans and seniors," Gabe Farias said in a statement.

Gabe Farias grew up in the district and graduated from McCollum High School in 1989.
