Couple accused of stealing from West Side motel

Daniel Bryant, Shay Douglas accused of stealing TV, other items

A man and his girlfriend have been linked to a burglary at a West Side motel through surveillance video, San Antonio police said.

Daniel Bryant, 37, and Shay Douglas, 39, were both booked into the Bexar County Jail on a charge of burglary. The details of the case are spelled out in an arrest warrant affidavit.

It stated that the manager of the Red Roof Inn on Old Highway 90 contacted police on March 1 about a burglary involving two motel rooms.

Later, the affidavit stated, the manager was able to supply several videos from surveillance cameras on the property, showing different angles.

The affidavit stated that detectives determined that a man and woman were involved.

They said the video shows the man wheeling out a chair containing items from the room, including a TV and refrigerator, the affidavit stated.

Investigators also found out someone had tried to steal a TV from a second room but was unable because it was bracketed to a wall, the affidavit stated.

Investigators said they looked at additional videos which showed Bryant and Douglas entering a room they were staying in, and that allowed police to identify them, the affidavit stated.
