Pope Francis auctioning off his Harley
Proceeds from pontiff's hog to support Roman hostel, soup kitchen
We all knew Pope Francis was cool. But did you know he has a Harley-Davidson motorcycle?
Well, he does. And now the unconventional pontiff is auctioning off his hog to support organizations that help the homeless, according to The Telegraph.
Francis was given the motorcycle in June when 35,000 Harley-Davidson enthusiasts roared into Rome to celebrate the 110th birthday of the motorcycle brand. Many of them packed into St Peter’s Square for a papal blessing.
Money raised from the auction will go toward a Roman hostel and soup kitchen.
Pope Francis has become well-known for his work with the poor and his distaste for "flashy" vehicles, opting for a Fiat instead of the "Popemobile" during his visit to Brazil and riding around Vatican City in regular rides like Fords and Volkswagens, according to Rome Reports.
