San Antonio student volunteers at Democratic National Convention

UTSA student Hannah Beck describes the sights and sounds inside the DNC

CHARLOTTE, NC - Tuesday, September 4

The arena has a distinct energy — it’s exciting to see the passion and ambition that everyone in Time Warner Cable Arena seems to share.

The crowds are decked out with people wearing shirts, hats, and scarves supporting Democrats across the United States… and Texans are no exception!

I was overjoyed to see t-shirts supporting Congressman Lloyd Doggett, Paul Sadler, and Joaquin Castro throughout the day.

Even though Texas is currently a red state, seeing this amount of faith at the convention renews my belief that Texas will eventually turn blue.

Tomorrow I’ve basically got the same day as today. I’m still not sure how to iron my clothes, how to fight the humidity, or what shoes I should be wearing.. but I’m thrilled to have the change to participate in this event and legitimately be a part of history.
