How to reduce risk of stroke

While suffering from a stroke can potentially have devastating effects, there are steps a person can take to reduce their risk.

 

While living an overall healthy lifestyle is the biggest recommendation to preventing a stroke, the Mayo Clinic also offers these tips:

 

-          Control high blood pressure

-          Lower cholesterol

-          Decrease amount of saturated fat in your diet

-          Quit smoking

-          Control your diabetes

-          Maintain a healthy weight

-          Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables

-          Exercise

-          Reduce alcohol consumption

-          Treat obstructive sleep apnea (if you’ve been diagnosed)
