Law enforcement presence increased post-Game 7

Officers from 4 agencies coordinate safety effort for celebration

SAN ANTONIO - Win or lose, you will see a “noticeable presence” of local law enforcement during and after the NBA Finals Game 7 between the Spurs and Miami Heat, said Sgt. Javier Salazar of the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers from SAPD, San Antonio Park Police, Bexar County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Department of Public Safety will be part of the coordinated effort to step up safety and security as Spurs fans flood the streets following the game.

"We will have officers directing traffic in affected areas, but then also have officers patrolling up and down sidewalks in the downtown area, the business district, Southwest Military Drive and some other areas throughout the arena,” said Salazar.

Plain-clothes officers -- those not in uniform -- will also be on patrol.

SAPD asks that those who choose to take party in the potential party do so responsibly.
