Manu Ginobili speaks out on future

Spurs veteran guard says he wants to return to team

SAN ANTONIO - For the first time since the Finals loss to Miami, Manu Ginobili has indicated he does not want to retire and wants to return to the Spurs.

Ginobili made his intentions known while writing a guest column for the website

Ginobili wrote in the column, "I do not know what will happen but I feel that I want [to be] back, I have no certainty because we still can not talk to the franchises. I feel better and happy for the great season despite the outcome, and it is very hard not to go to continue playing."

Ginobili's contract expires this summer and the 35-year-old guard is an unrestricted free agent.

Ginobili battled injuries and a declining game all season. He averaged 11.5 points in the playoffs, his lowest total since his rookie season in 2003, and was inconsistent during the Finals.

He scored 24 points and added 10 assists during a crucial win in Game 5, but committed 12 total turnovers during losses in Games 6 and 7.

Ginobili made $14 million last season during the final year of his contract.
