128 Alamo Heights students accused of cheating

Two incidents involved juniors in U.S. history, freshmen in English I

ALAMO HEIGHTS, Texas – Dozens of students at Alamo Heights High School were recently found to have violated academic integrity.

According to letter from Principal Cordell Jones, the two incidents involving 38 juniors in U.S. History and 90 freshmen in English I happened before Thanksgiving break.

The letter didn't indicate how the violations occurred.

The majority of the students said they knew "what they were doing was not allowed," the letter said.

"Along the way, our students sometimes stumble and make mistakes. Together, we pick them up, tell them we love them, hold them accountable for their actions, and then move forward. Such is the
case now," Jones said. "Our students will learn from their mistakes and avoid making them again."

Jones said that similar incidents have happened in the past, but none of them involved dozens of students.

The letter didn't state what punishment was handed to the students.

The incident will not impact a student's transcript or permanent record, he said.
