SAN ANTONIO -- After its fourth consecutive year of failing to make adequate yearly progress in school testing performance and other factors, the San Antonio Independent School District is considering multiple solutions to deal with Fox Tech High School.
The 130-year-old campus, the oldest in San Antonio, must face a restructuring plan submitted to the Texas Education Agency early next year. District officials said the restructuring process can include curriculum changes, implementing magnet programs, creating freshman academies or creating a second school within the campus.
"There are no plans to close Fox Tech," district spokeswoman Leslie Price said.
The district came under fire at the end of 2007-08 school year as it closed six schools for budgetary reasons.
Price said the process is similar to the one Sam Houston High School -- another SAISD campus -- went through last year under similar circumstances.
