SAN ANTONIO -- A 9-year-old elementary school student discovered a Ritalin pill inside a piece of fruit Tuesday.
The Brauchle Elementary fourth-grader bit into the pill at the same time she bit into a pear, said North Side Independent School District spokesman Pascual Gonzalez.
The girl spit it out and reported the incident, Gonzalez said.
The student was taken to a hospital for observation and returned to school Wednesday.
NISD police are investigating.
Ritalin is a commonly prescribed drug for attention deficit/hyperactive disorder.
