SAN ANTONIO -- A teacher with the Northside Independent School District is spending her spring break dealing with criminal charges.
According to an affidavit, Candice Small, 30, who teaches fourth grade at Krueger Elementary School, is accused of taking a credit card from the purse of a co-worker and using it without her consent.
The co-worker, Kirsten Velasquez, reported the theft to Northside ISD police in late February and told them the card had been used to make a purchase at an H-E-B store on Guilbeau Road, the affidavit stated.
Velasquez also told police she suspected Small because of what she called "past incidents" at the school, the affidavit stated.
Police later obtained surveillance video and still pictures taken during the transaction at the store, the affidavit stated.
Detectives showed the photos to the principal and two other employees at Krueger, who were able to identify the woman in the images as Small, the affidavit stated.
Small has been arrested and charged with credit card abuse.
