SAN ANTONIO -

Last week, Joey Fatone was sent packing after an underwhelming 1uickstep, which left his partner, Kym Johnson, in tears.
This week, the celebrities have creative control over their routines in regards to picking a past contestant's jaw-dropping routine and making it their own.
While some flew to better scores, others ended up on the other side of the donkey.
Melissa Rycroft's daring and tropical-themed samba sent me for a complete loop. I couldn't believe a woman who just had a baby could move like that.
Kelly Monaco's very traditional paso doble created such passion and fire I needed a glass of water. Also, Drew Lachey's very boy band cha-cha looked like so much fun it made me gyrate in my chair, not to mention the Magic Mike moves worked well for him.

The scores for last night's show are as follows:

  • Drew and Anna: 24.0
  • Gilles and Peta: 25.5
  • Melissa and Tony: 27.0
  • Apolo and Karina: 25.5
  • Kelly and Val: 27.0
  • Kirstie and Maksim: 24.0
  • Sabrina and Louis: 25.5
  • Emmitt and Cheryl: 25.0
  • Helio and Chelsie: 25.5
  • Bristol and Mark: 22.5
  • Shawn and Derek: 26.5

It is pretty much safe to say the Olympian's (Apolo and Shawn) are invincible in regards to their fan bases.
Emmitt has the football fans which will keep him safe, despite his growing unpopularity as being very cocky and full of himself.
Melissa has also been the most outgoing and talkative on Facebook and Twitter, which has helped her fan base tremendously.
Kelly's high scores and soap fans will clearly keep her in for the next week.
Gilles is still the considered the best dancer and along with his sex appeal will keep his voters voting. The rest have me guessing.
Drew may have stepped it up in his cha-cha but he won't go far putting in only "good" performances.
Helio had a slight misstep in his quickstep which could give the voters an excuse not to vote for him since the competition is so tight.
Sabrina played it too safe and lacked any wow in her performance, which puts her at risk.
While Kirstie had a fun cha-cha and got Maks into those tight Jagger-like pants (she should be sent into next week just for that alone) she is still not up to par with the rest of the cast.
Finally, Bristol's meltdown made her look incompetent and very whiny, which will possibly annoy viewers and could have sent her into "checkmate", however she was saved over Joey Fatone last week, so it's obvious she has SOME fans. At this point it is anyone's game right now.
Next week has some surprising spins. The very famous Paula Abdul will be a guest judge. Knowing her work from "American Idol" and "The X-Factor", I think that judging dancing will be more her forte then judging singing. In past season of "American Idol", I was used to her coddling most of the contestants and acting as a foil for Simon. I think that her critiques and judging could bode well for her. If she continues to be the supportive-cheerleader that we all know and love her for she will mesh right into Len's tough critiques, Bruno's outrageous personality, and Carrie Ann's attempts at being likable. I must say that I am very excited for Paula to come on the show and show these new kids that she's still got it.
Next week, the contestants will be given control at what someone else in the competition will dance. We have been told that dances will be given that have never been done on the show or have hardly ever been done on the show. I am expecting: Charleston, Lambada, Lindy Hop Hustle, Bolero, and/or Swing to make an appearance.
While dances I know have never been on the show but have made appearances on its British creator Strictly Come Dancing, are among the American Smooth, Merengue, and Rueda. It will be interesting to see how these contestants cope with these kind of dances. This is the make it or break it moment. Can they cope with the pressure of a brand-new dance or will the engine finally run out of steam for some of them? Tune in next Monday to find out.
