SAN ANTONIO -- Their father may be in a fight for his life in a Houston hospital, but the sons of Tejano singer Emilio Navaira insist the show must go on.
Emilio Navaira IV and Diego Navaira paid tribute to their hospitalized father on Tuesday night by performing during the 2008 Premios a La Musica Latina at the Majestic Theater.
The siblings performed an acoustical rendition of their father's song "Juntos," which surprised and touched many of the fans in attendance.
Emilio was scheduled to perform at the event.
The singer's brother, Raul, watched his nephews from backstage and said he was very proud of them.
"They're fantastic," he said. "I'm proud of all of my family through all of this. We're going to be OK."
Raul Navaira said that his brother is improving every day and is hoping for a full recovery.
On Monday, Emilio successfully underwent treatment for a
pseudoaneurysm in his right lung.
The singer, though, remains in critical condition at a Houston hospital following a crash of his tour bus on Easter Sunday.
