SAN ANTONIO – The Beach Boys should, at this point, need no introduction.

Their contribution to modern music is so well-defined, their place in rock history and American pop culture so indelible, it’s next to impossible to enumerate all their different accomplishments, awards, recognitions and achievements.

If, however, they’re still new to you, here’s a quick primer for the Beach Boys by the numbers:

  • 100-plus million albums sold
  • 80-plus charted hits
  • Rock and Roll Hall of Famers (1988)
  • Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2001)

Etc. etc. etc.

Impressed? You should be.

Aside from sheer numbers, here’s a list of songs which, by their names alone, evoke an entire era of American teen culture in the late ’50s and early ‘60s: "Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Rock and Roll Music,” “Don’t Worry, Baby” and “Kokomo.”

Suffice to say, they’re kind of a big deal.

Which makes the announcement of a San Antonio concert that much more newsworthy.

The Beach Boys will cruise into town Oct. 11 for a show at the Majestic Theatre, at 224 E. Houston St.

Tickets are priced from $45-$75 and will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Majestic Theatre Box Office, online at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 800-745-3000. All tickets are subject to applicable service charges and fees.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 16 at noon.

The current incarnation of The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love (pictured) and Bruce Johnston, along with Jeffrey Foskett, Brian Eichenburger, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten.

This concert will not feature founding members Brian Wilson, Al Jardine or David Marks.
