Estimated 700,000 pack downtown for Fiesta Flambeau Parade

Parade is the country's largest illumated parade

SAN ANTONIO – For nearly 70 years the Fiesta Flambeau parade has dazzled San Antonians and visitors alike with its spectacle of lights.

From men and women in uniform to horse-drawn carriages, the weather was near perfect Saturday for the country’s largest illuminated parade.

Twenty-five years ago George Diaz paid $500 for a trailer, threw down some carpet and to this day it's ground zero for Fiesta fun.

"Fajitas. Everybody just brings food, beer, sodas. Everybody has a good time," Diaz said.

It was spectacle after spectacle, an almost unending cavalcade of bright excitement for the 700,000 people in attendance.
