A 25-ton crane helped lower 32 barges into the river, so they can be decorated for the Texas Cavaliers River Parade.

More than 50 volunteers were also on hand to help out.

“Cavalier barge-in day is a big day. It gets us excited for the River Parade,” said Barton Simpson, Texas Cavaliers River Parade marshal. “We start working on next year's River Parade immediately when this year's ends, so it's a yearlong process.”
