New trailer to 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' released on Wednesday

Film opens in theaters on July 7

SAN ANTONIO – Marvel Entertainment has released a trailer to the upcoming film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" which is set to be released in theaters on July 7.

Peter Parker made his first appearance in the Marvel movie universe in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War" after Marvel Studios and Sony reached a deal to share the character rights of Spider-Man.

The film takes place several months after the events of Civil War. With the help of his mentor Tony Stark, Parker tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens with fighting crime as his alter ego -- just as a new threat, the Vulture, emerges.

Actor Tom Holland will again portray the comic book superhero and Robert Downey Jr. will be reprising his role as Iron Man. The rest of the cast includes Michael Keaton, Tyne Daly, John Favreau, Donald Glover, Marisa Tomei and Zendaya. 

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is directed by Jon Watts.
