'The Bachelorette' Blog: JoJo is back and calling the shots

Wild antics fill season 12 premiere

Season 12 of “The Bachelorette” kicked off with a bang as firecracker JoJo Fletcher is back for a second chance at love.

Last season on “The Bachelor” she came close to finding her perfect match in Ben.

Alas it wasn’t meant to be, and she went home with a broken heart. I have to be honest, I was so glad he didn’t pick JoJo. She was just too fiery for him. She needs someone that can keep up with her high energy personality.

The limo entrances are always my favorite part of the first episode, and this season definitely didn’t disappoint.

Here are a few of the most memorable limo moments:

  • Nick B.  surprised everyone when he walked out of the limo dressed as Santa Claus. That’s right. It’s the end of May, but that doesn’t mean Saint Nick isn’t coming to town. I have to give him a little credit because he stayed in that suit all night. I hope he didn’t forget deodorant!
  • Wells pulled out all the stops and brought the R&B group All-4-One, in hopes of making the perfect first impression. It was definitely over the top in a good way!
  • James Taylor whipped out his guitar and took JoJo’s breath away as he serenaded her. I loved watching a Texas boy sweep her off her feet!
  • Luke, also from Texas, decided to recreate JoJo’s limo entrance from last season. You may recall she walked out wearing a unicorn head. Luke took it up a notch and actually rode in on a unicorn. As you can imagine, JoJo was all smiles.

Once all the men arrived, they had a chance to mix, mingle and pop bottles with the girl of their dreams.

The strangest part of the night can be summed up in one word, and his name is Daniel. After lots of alcohol, poking some of the guys in the belly button, he took off his clothes and jumped in the pool. What was he thinking?! I was shocked when JoJo didn’t send him home after that stunt.

Aside from making a fool of himself, he’s just bizarre and creepy. You can be sure he’ll contribute to crazy this season.

The first impression rose went to Jordan. (Side note: He’s the brother of Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers.) He peaked JoJo’s interest from the beginning, but I’m not quite sure how I feel about him. I can’t tell if his intentions are genuine. One things for sure, he definitely knows how to make the best of his sweet talking, charm.

My jaw dropped in the moments before the rose ceremony as Jake Pavelka (former Bachelor) walked in the mansion. I couldn’t help but think he was going to make some desperate attempt to be part of the show. Then he said, “I want love (long awkward pause) for you.” Phew. What a relief!

At the end of the night, six guy’s hopes for love were crushed as they went home. Now 20 continue on their quest for love.

Here are my top five picks:

  • Jordan: Former Pro Quarterback
  • Luke: War Veteran from Texas
  • James Taylor: Singer/Songwriter from Texas
  • Grant: Firefighter
  • Alex: U.S. Marine
