A prequel series for the 1980s cult classic “The Dark Crystal” is coming to Netflix, the company announced.
The series, which will be called "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” will feature 10 episodes and debut later in 2017, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original film was released in 1982 and featured a fantasy adventure world of elf and vulture characters.
The film was considered to be a ground-breaking visual achievement that was directed and produced by Jim Henson.
The new series, which will be produced by the Jim Henson Company, is set to take place many years before the original film was released.
