Ecuador’s asylum offering to Assange sparks diplomatic battle

Ecuadorian foreign minister Ricardo Patino has confirmed the country will extend political asylum to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is currently detained, sleeping on an air mattress in Ecuador’s small embassy in London.
