Flavor Favs: Pete's Tako House

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio is home to many Tex-Mex restaurants and one that many have been going to for years is Pete’s Tako House.

The restaurant was originally located off of Main and Lexington and opened back in 1978.

“My mom and dad opened the original locations,” Pete Rios said.

Rios grew up in the restaurant business. Rios has since taken over but his mom still stops by to help out.

“My mom is still a main factor,” Rios said. “She’s the backbone of the restaurant.”

Four years ago the restaurant was moved to 502 Brooklyn Avenue.

As you step inside you are greeted right away, and the menu features many typical Mexican dishes.

“Enchiladas, Mexican plates, burritos, we have a huge carne guisada burrito which is delicious,” Rios said.

Being one block from Broadway, Pete’s Tako House is preparing for Fiesta and looking forward to the crowds the parades bring.

“We are right next to the parade route so its going to give us a lot of opportunity for more business,” Rios said.

This restaurant may not be the only Tex-Mex place in town but Rios says they’ve been blessed to be in business for so long and they look forward to making great food for many more decades.
