Boudin enchiliadas, bread pudding french toast are options at new brunch spot

Flavor Favs: NOLA Brunch & Beignets

SAN ANTONIO – A new spot near St. Mary's Strip, NOLA Brunch and Beignets, is creating a lot of buzz with its twist on brunch.

"We just wanted to do something that was fun, casual neighborhood place," Chef Pieter Sypesteyn said.

Sypesteyn is already familiar with the area. He opened Cookhouse nearby several years ago. With NOLA Brunch & Beignets, he wanted to continue to bring food ideas from his hometown of New Orleans to San Antonio.

"New Orleans food is so versatile. There are so many different things to eat, and here, we noticed a big lack of neighborhood brunch places," Sypesteyn said.

The menu is full of great options, like blue crab omelette, bread pudding french toach and boudin enchiladas.

"We take some thing from back home in New Orleans and southern Louisiana, and we tie them in with a little of Texas culture," Sypesteyn said.

The restaurant also prides itself in giving back to their neighborhood and have a good working relationship with residents.

Since its opening, the restaurant has seen big crowds, but it's worth the wait.

NOLA Brunch and Beignets is open Tuesday through Saturday.
