Hispanic Women Needed For Blood Disease Study

POSTED: Friday, July 1, 2005

Do you suffer from frequent nosebleeds, easy bruising and very heavy vaginal bleeding each month lasting over five to seven days?

You may be lacking a protein in your blood called von Willebrand factor.

In conjunction with the Center for Disease Control, the University of Texas Health Science Center is conducting a study to determine the number of Hispanic women with heavy vaginal bleeding and von Willebrand disease.

UTHSC is offering physical exams and laboratory testing to Hispanic women ages 12-50 years old who qualify for participation in the study.

Participants will be given up to $50 for time and travel expenses.

Woman interested in participating are urged to call Daryl Moczygemba at (210) 704-3022, (210) 704-3405 or toll free at (800) 227—3618, extension 3022.
