Reproductive years

The Birth Place at Southwest General is one of the busiest maternity programs in the area. It nearly doubled in size in 2002, and is once again expanding in size, to care for more mothers and babies.

Midlife
In the middle years, women encounter menopause along with new health risks, such as heart disease, arthritis and osteoporosis. However, many women are too busy taking care of their children, grandchildren and even their parents that they neglect to care for their own health. Southwest General Hospital partners with women to successfully transfer to a new stage of life through support, quality care and with state-of-the-art treatment options.

About Southwest General Hospital
In 1979, a determined group of physicians and businessmen joined together to build a health care facility where it was needed most – in the southwest sector of San Antonio. Today, Southwest General Hospital, a 289-bed acute care facility continues to be the only health care facility, on the southwest quadrant of the city.
Southwest General offers comprehensive health care services, including a strong surgery program, advanced diagnostics and imaging, wound care and hyperbaric services. The hospital has a busy emergency medicine program, and recently expanded its ER to better serve the community.
