SAN ANTONIO -- Moshe Tortomasi knew his search for a happy holiday was anything but traditional."It's a weird way to ask, a weird way to try to beat the holiday blues," he said.Tortomasi posted an ad on Craigslist in hopes of fidning a friendly place to have Thanksgiving dinner and watch some football. He asked for someone who would take him in for one day."When I put that ad out I really didn't expect a response at all," Tormotasi said. But he actually got several invites, one from the Martinez family, who he met on Craigslist a month earlier. In October, the Martinezs' helped Tormotasi move, and he in turn helped them with some cash for the use of their truck."This past year has been hard for many families to make it to this point, and it's our way of celebrating another day. You know, thanking God," Steve Martinez said. The Martinez's don't know Tortomasi well, but know how people should not feel on Thanksgiving."He didn't want to be alone for the holidays," Martinez said.Lucy Martinez always taught her children to give to others in need."Today it's them, maybe tomorrow it'll be us, you know, that we might be in need," she said. "And we don't have much, but whatever we have, it's plenty to share."A Web site and a kind family gave Tortomasi a reason to be thankful."When you're nice to someone, it can always be returned and not to give up hope," Tortomasi said. The Martinez family and Tortormasi said they plan to volunteer to help out at the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner.
