San Antonio Book Festival's annual fiction contest winners announced

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Book Festival announced the winners of its annual fiction contest Wednesday.

Among the winners, Brian Yancelson won for Alamo Heights High School. No stranger to writing, he was still a little nervous about the competition.

"[It’s] very exciting because I do write for Sports Illustrated Kids and that's more like sports and news,” Yancelson said. “So this fiction contest is outside of the norm of what I normally do, so I was kind of worried about it. But I guess it kind of worked out."

There were also winners from Concordia Lutheran School or William H. Taft.

The festival is a KSAT Community event and will take place Saturday, April 8 at the Central Library and Southwest School of Art. For more info, visit this website.
