A local grandmother and two of her young grandsons got a special holiday surprise thanks to KSAT's Holiday Helpers.
Ana Macias and her pair of grandchildren received some new beds.
Macias' daughter-in-law, Veronica Gonzales, nominated her as a Holiday Helper recipient. Gonzales said Macias is a wonderful grandmother who adopted her grandchildren after they were placed in Child Protective Services custody.
Money is tight, and Gonzales wanted to make sure Macias and her grandsons got the Christmas they deserve.
"I wrote this long story on how she has her grandkids in her custody, how much they mean to her," Gonzales said. "I know that she wasn't going to be able to give them a Christmas this year. Maybe a few things from family members, but it wasn't going to be a lot."
Thanks to the Holiday Helpers, the boys will have a lot more space to sleep after Santa pays the a visit.
The KSAT 12 Community partners include Security Service Federal Credit Union, Corner Store and University Health System. Agave Ranch Furniture Store and Mattress Firm provided the beds and mattresses.
