KSAT 12 News Anchor On 'Oprah'
Leslie Mouton To Share Her Story With Talk Show Host
KSAT 12 news anchorwoman Leslie Mouton will appear on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" Thursday at 4 p.m., and will share the challenges she has faced fighting breast cancer.
Mouton discovered a lump during a breast self-exam in October. She visited a doctor who confirmed that she had cancer.
Mouton had surgery to remove the growth and has undergone several weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
She showed viewers how she shaved her head after hair loss became imminent during chemotherapy. She shopped for a wig to wear during newscasts, and even anchored the news bald.
This week, she took off the wig permanently. Her hair is growing back gradually.
The anchorwoman said that she is using her experience to help other breast cancer victims.
She keeps viewers updated on her fight against cancer by taking them into hospital rooms and by keeping a diary on the station's web site.
Leslie decided to share her story in hopes of encouraging all women to do their own breast self-exams.
