SAN ANTONIO -

A fundraiser will be held on Sunday for a San Antonio boy battling leukemia, as he reaches the halfway point in his treatment.

Silas Blaylock is 8-months-old, and has already undergone two rounds of chemotherapy, with two more to go. The baby boy was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia when we was six-months-old, which came as a shock to his parents.

“It's tough because you get excited about all the firsts. First Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, so that's been tough,” said his mother, Mari Blaylock.

His father, Marcus Blaylock, said despite the diagnosis, his family is remaining positive.

“I've been through some tough stuff,” said Marcus. “I mean, I was in Iraq, a war veteran, but it’s nothing compared to hearing something like that about your kid.”

Friends of the Blaylock family are holding the “Super Silas Spectacular” to help raise funds for his treatment.

The event will take place on Sunday, January 6th from 2pm-9pm at Sam's Burger Joint, 330 E. Grayson.

Several local bands will be performing, and organizers are asking for a $10 donation at the door.’’
