MLB Announces 2009 World Series Umpires

POSTED: Tuesday, October 27, 2009

(Sports Network) - Gerry Davis will serve as crew chief for the 2009 World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees, Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday.

The 26-year umpiring veteran will also be behind home plate for Game 1 on Wednesday in New York, and heads a six-man crew that includes Jeff Nelson (1B), Brian Gorman (2B), Mike Everitt (3B), Dana DeMuth (LF) and Joe West (RF).

This marks the fourth World Series for Davis, DeMuth and West. Davis will be the crew chief in the Fall Classic for the first time in his career. This is the second World Series assignment for Everitt, Gorman and Nelson.

All six umpires were assigned to a division series in 2009.
