Arlington, TX -- (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers did not offer a contract to right-handed pitcher Doug Mathis.

Mathis, 25, went 2-1 with a 6.85 earned run average in eight games (four starts) in his major league debut for the Rangers in 2008. He spent just over a month with the Rangers before having his season ended with right shoulder inflammation.

He also went 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 10 games for Triple-A Oklahoma in 2008.
