Last-minute filers rush to post office to mail tax returns

Tuesday is last day to file taxes

SAN ANTONIO – Tax Day is Tuesday and even though people had a few extra days to file this year, there were still those who waited until the last minute to send their money to the Internal Revenue Service.

Unlike in years past, none of the U.S. Postal Service locations in San Antonio will offer late-night services.

However, mail deposited in the outside collection boxes and inside the lobby drop-off at the San Antonio General Mail Facility on Perrin Beitel Road will receive an April 18 postmark.

But filers will have until midnight.

The post office near the airport will remain open the latest Tuesday, with mail being accepted until 10 p.m.
