'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' tapes final episode
The popular show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is gearing up for its last season and its final episode was filmed Saturday night in Floresville.
Crews have been working all week to build a home for Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris and his family.
Harris was injured while serving in Iraq.
On Saturday, crowds got to see crews move the bus and the Harris family saw the house of their dreams.
"They were living here, and here we are, the following Saturday, and their brand new home is finished," said Gordon Hartman with Morgan's Wonderland. "It's an incredible home. It's an opportunity for them to start over, if you will, and we're just glad to be a part of it."
The house was built in less than a week, thanks to the help of Gordon Hartman and Morgan's Wonderland and more than 3,000 volunteers.
"We were fortunate enough to experience this," said June Rodriguez, a volunteer. "We had a great time and we did so much. I'm glad we got to help out."
Show producers said they saw a willingness to help time and time again in Texas, which is why they decided to film their last episode in Floresville.
"We've been watching it for years," said Stacey Drzymala, a Poth resident. "So, we just can't believe that it's out here in Floresville, Texas and that we get to be a part of it."
"It's a pretty good run for 9 years.," said Brady Connell, Executive Producer of Extreme Makeover-Home Edition.
"Any show that can last that long and do over 200 episodes, that's a huge success story. And, at some point, all television shows go away. I'm just sorry that this one is going away because it does so much good. It really does help people. It brings out the best in communities," Connell added.
The episode will air sometime around Christmas.
