The man accused of trying to rob a convenience store dressed as Gumby turned himself in Tuesday, with an alleged accomplice, San Diego police said.
Jacob Kiss, 19, brought the costume of the famous claymation character with him when he arrived at police headquarters, Detective Gary Hassen told KGTV.
Accompanying him was Jason Giramma, also 19, who is accused of serving as getaway driver following the failed Labor Day crime, Hassen said.
The pair were interviewed and released, though police did confiscate the Gumby costume.
Police said a man dressed as Gumby and an accomplice went into a 7-Eleven in Rancho Penasquitos and told the clerk it was a robbery.
The clerk thought it was a prank and dismissed him. Both men then left the store.
Surveillance video showed the clumsy would-be robber struggling to keep the green suit on as he walked out the door.
