SAN ANTONIO -

One person died in a fiery rollover crash Thursday in the Bergheim area, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The driver of a 2004 Nissan Xterra veered off the eastbound lane on Rio Cordillera toward FM 3351 and attempted to bring the vehicle back, but lost control and rolled until striking a tree and catching fire, officials said.

Initial reports were that the driver, the only person in the vehicle, was trapped inside and burned beyond recognition.

Identification of the driver is pending autopsy results by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.
