1 dead in plane crash near Floresville
One person has died in a plane crash in Wilson County on Friday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed.
The single-engine Cessna 172 crashed just before 1 p.m. near the the John B. Connally Ranch Airport.
Friday night, the Associated Press said Wilson County Justice of the Peace Johnny Tejada Villarreal identified the dead pilot as 58-year-old John Kevin Hurley of Bulverde.
FAA investigators said the plane had left Stinson Municipal Airport in San Antonio.
Near the Connally Ranch, air traffic controllers lost contact with the pilot. The plane crashed in a field just north of the airport.
No other people were inside the aircraft.
The National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating.
