SAN ANTONIO -

A crash in Southeast Bexar County killed a man and sent a woman to the hospital early Thursday morning.

The wreck occurred around 1:40 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Highway 181 at Kilowatt Road.

Bexar County sheriff's deputies said a woman driving a Ford truck lost control of the pickup and struck a pole and a fence.

A man riding with the woman died at the scene, sheriff's deputies said. The woman was transported to University Hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash was unknown and sheriff's deputies have not released the name of the victim.

Southbound traffic was detoured while sheriff's deputies and paramedics cleared the crash scene.

Woman arrested in separate drunken driving crash

In another overnight crash on San Antonio's north side, no one was seriously hurt, but a woman was arrested on a serious charge.

Keri Dawn Shehorn, 43, was driving north on the 281 access road when she ran a red light, causing another car to T-bone her, San Antonio police said.

The impact of the crash pushed one of the cars into a signal light trailer, knocking it over onto its side.

The wreck happened shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Shehorn initially refused a field sobriety test, police said.

DWI officers responded to the scene and took her into custody. Shehorn admitted to drinking before the wreck, police said.
