1 person remains in hospital after 48-hour crime spree

Ralph Torres, 27, charged with capital murder

SAN ANTONIO – One of three people shot during a 48-hour crime spree is still in the hospital. Lee Villarreal, 27, was shot in the chest Tuesday night in a parking lot off McCullough Avenue.

Villarreal’s family members said Lee made it through surgery on Wednesday at University Hospital and is doing well. They said they’re thankful police made an arrest.

Ralph Torres, 27, is charged with capital murder. Police believe he’s responsible for at least six crimes, including shootings, carjackings and burglaries.

One of those shootings was at a convenience store on Blanco Road. Torres allegedly opened fire on the store owner and his wife. The husband, Makansinh Udavat, was killed. His wife has since been released from the hospital.

Police said Torres could face even more charges in the future.
