100 Club hosts luncheon honoring local fallen heroes

SAN ANTONIO – The 100 Club of San Antonio held a luncheon to honor the heroes who have died in the line of duty.

The Heroes Luncheon on Tuesday recognized fallen firefighter Scott Deem and Detective Benjamin Marconi.

The 100 Club provides financial assistance for families of first responders who have died.

Richard Miller, 100 Club president, said after learning about Thursday night's deadly fire, in which Scott Deem was killed, residents quickly stepped in and offered to help.

“The phones at the 100 Club have been ringing nonstop with people who want to donate, and many just want to talk,” Miller said. “They want to express their sympathy, and they want us to share that with the family."

An honor chair and table was set up at the luncheon to show the local heroes will never be forgotten.
