About 100 residents rallied at a city hall meeting Monday night to complain about a Helotes mulch fire that has burned for over a month.

Residents expressed their frustration about the fire and demanded answers from city and county leaders regarding the time the fire will be extinguished.

"I'm tired of suffering," a resident said. "My kids are tired, I'm tired of it."

Another resident complained that officials allowed the mulch fire to get too big.

"Why was (the fire) allowed to get so big?" a resident said. Who was responsible for that? Who? Who?"

Rep. David Leibowitz said he wants Gov. Rick Perry to help put a stop to the fire.

"It's just something I feel Gov. Perry needs to get a handle on it," Leibowitz said. "He needs to do it quickly because it's spiraling out of control."

Many resident said they plan to write to Perry for help.
