TABC, Police Raid 2 Bars

POSTED: Friday, February 2, 2007
UPDATED: 10:18 am CST February 2, 2007

Law enforcement authorities raided two bars north of downtown early Friday for alleged liquor license violations.

Undercover officers with the San Antonio Police Department and the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission teamed up and simultaneously raided Sanctuary and PJ's Petticoat Junction around 12:30 a.m in the 1800 block of North Main Street.

Law enforcement authorities forced about 60 bar patrons out of the establishments, police said.

According to an undercover officer, the bars did have a liquor license at one time, but when the bars were sold, the new owner allegedly failed to get the license.

The bar owner and a bartender were detained and face charges of selling liquor without a license, police said.

Several thousand dollars in cash and dozens of bottles of alcohol were seized, police said.
