Moussaoui (pictured, right) faces conspiracy charges in the first indictment directly linked to the September suicide hijackings. He already has a lawyer in the United States.
The French Moroccan sought flight lessons in Minnesota a month before the hijackings, sparking investigators' suspicions.
Two months ago, Coutant-Peyre announced that she would marry Carlos the Jackal. He's serving a life sentence in France for the 1975 murders of two French secret agents and an alleged informer.
Coutant-Peyre suggested that Moussaoui has been made a scapegoat in the investigation. She has not yet spoken with her client -- nor does she know where he is being held. The lawyer said that Moussaoui's mother asked her to represent her son.
