Family Of Boy Needing Heart Transplant Clings To Hope

Family members of a 7-year-old boy in need of a heart transplant said they are clinging to hope that he will recover.

Doctors said Adrian Saucedo's only chance of recovery depends on the transplant.

The Saucedo family from Piedras Negras, Mexico, admitted Adrian to the Children's Methodist Hospital over a month ago after doctors in Mexico were unable to treat his condition.

His family said it can't afford $500,000 to pay for the transplant but relatives are hoping for a miracle.

"I have a lot of faith," Christian Saucedo, Adrian's mother, said. "I know he is very strong and that he'll continue to be strong. He'll continue fighting."

Saucedo said that with every passing moment, Adrian is getting weaker and more tired.

Saucedo said she's painfully watched her son's condition worsen each day.

"Everyday there is the possibility his heart could stop and that he could go into cardiac arrest," Saucedo said. "(If that happens, doctors) won't be able to revive him. That's how critical he is. His heart is weak."

Doctors said they're desperately looking for help, both in the U.S. and in Mexico.

If anyone wants to follow Adrian's story, they can look up a Web page dedicated to him in Facebook called, "Adrian Necesita Un Corazon."
