SAN ANTONIO -- A Kerrville couple donated thousands of dollars to help a 7-year-old boy who needs a heart transplant.
George and Florence Schulgen donated $10,000 to help Adrian Saucedo get a new heart.
Adrian's family from Piedras Negras, Mexico, said they don't have medical insurance to help pay for the $500,000 heart transplant.
Without the money, Adrian will not be able to get on a heart transplant list.
Doctors said Adrian would recover if he got a new heart but without it he doesn't have a good chance to recover.
The Schulgens, who have never met Adrian, said they want to see him smile.
"I want to see him smile," George Schulgen said. "I want to see him get his heart and let him know that people in the U.S. care about him and his family."
The Schlugens said they want their actions to inspire others.
"I challenge anyone listening to me right now to please step forward," Schulgen said. "Let's do it together and let's save this young man's life."
A fund has been set up to raise money in hopes of getting Adrian a transplant.
