SAN ANTONIO -- Hundreds of immigration supporters marched through the streets of downtown San Antonio calling for immigration reform.
Throughout the afternoon, the crowd of demonstrators grew from a sparse crowd of several dozen to about a thousand strong.
The march wound through downtown with protestors telling their stories along the way.
"My parents came here looking for opportunity and that's all we're doing," one marcher said. "(My family is) looking for opportunity. "
Another marcher said their support was necessary.
"I am Mexican, I am an immigrant and I had to be here," a marcher said.
Supporters of the rally denounced what they said was inhumane immigration law and mass deportation.
In response to demonstrators, Nina Pruneza, an employee of Immigration and Customs, said, "We do not do random deportation or random sweeps."
Pruneza said she admits they take a firm stance on immigration and had a message for demonstrators.
"The message we have is you have a right to protest but know, if you are here illegally, you will be arrested and put in removal proceedings."
Protestors made a quick stop by Sen. John Cornyn's office to show their support for his various immigration bills.
Flyers featuring Cornyn's face were taped on the doors of the building where his San Antonio office is housed.
Cornyn's office said the senator was out of town.
At the end of the march, protestors gathered and let their voices be heard.
Many of the marchers said they attended the rally just to get that opportunity to be heard.
