SAN ANTONIO -- MySpace alerted Bexar County authorities Wednesday about a registered sex offender who it believed was trying to contact underage girls.
Police arrested Daniel Baldemar Perez, 22, who was apparently on probation and living in a child safety zone at an extended-stay hotel in the 6900 block San Pedro.
Authorities said they believe Perez had two separate MySpace accounts and was allegedly trying to meet as many as 15 underage girls that had he contacted through the Web site.
Bexar County probation officials said Perez moved to San Antonio from Collin County and registered as a sex offender.
Officials said they found a computer and a cell phone they believe he was using to contact the girls.
Eloy Fernandez, a Bexar County probation officer, said Perez had pornography on his computer and on his cell phone.
Perez is being held at the Bexar County Jail until Collin County authorities transport him back to their county.
Probation officers said they made a motion to revoke Perez's probation.
A search conducted by KSAT 12 News revealed that, according to DPS records, there are 22 registered sex offenders living in zip code 78216.
