SAN ANTONIO -- A sports bar has been temporarily closed after a shooting over the weekend, but residents said they would like to see it shut down permanently.
Residents of the Dellview neighborhood said they're fed up with the traffic and the beer cans left behind by customers of the West Avenue Sports Club.
Police have confirmed responding to 43 calls relating to anything from liquor violations to assaults at the bar, at 4500 West Ave.
The latest call involved a man who suffered a gunshot wound to the forehead on Saturday night. The man was in fair condition on Sunday.
Since the shooting, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has issued an emergency suspension order against the bar, which prevents it from selling alcohol for seven days.
TABC officials said they are working to resolve the issues with the owner and if they're not resolved, the bar could lose its liquor permit.
The owners closed the bar and have since placed a sign on the door that claims the bar has been closed for remodeling.
One resident who didn't want to be identified said bar fights are common on Saturday nights.
"They have fights there every week," the resident said. "There are four or five police cars every Saturday night. "
The resident said in one instance someone hit her with a beer bottle while she was sitting in a lawn chair.
