SAN ANTONIO -- An Iraq veteran living in Cibolo was chosen as a finalist to compete for a spot in the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame.
Christian Bagge, a Purple Heart recipient who lost both of his legs while serving in Iraq, was chosen for his enduring spirit, Energizer spokesperson Jeff Bachmann said.
Bagge raises public awareness and support for wounded soldiers and also helps to raise money for veteran memorials.
Bachmann said Bagge was chosen for his never-quit attitude in the face of adversity.
Bagge's wife, Melissa Bagge, said she couldn't be prouder.
"He has really made my job as a wife easy," Bagge said. "He never complains. He works just as hard as he did before he lost his legs and he's just really inspirational."
Although Christian Bagge has been put in the spotlight, he is humbly approaching the competition.
"It feels pretty neat but there may be more deserving people than myself," Bagge said. "I imagine there are probably kids that lost limbs or something. If that's the case, they certainly deserve it more than I do."
The winner of the competition will receive $10,000 in cash prizes plus a $5,000 donation for their favorite charity.
The winner will be chosen through online voting, which starts on Thursday.
