SAN ANTONIO -- Shotgun blasts signaling the arrival of dove season in the San Antonio area over the Labor Day weekend rattled and angered residents in one neighborhood in northwest Bexar County.
Some residents who live off Shaenfield Road near Loop 1604 said that the shotgun blasts scare them.
Julie Johns thought twice about taking her 20-month-old son for his daily early evening stroll in the neighborhood.
"It's kind of scary to sit on the swing with our infant and let (him) run around," she said.
David Rueda, 11, who was taking a stroll with his father, agrees with Johns.
"I think that it shouldn't because it disturbs lots of people here," David said. "They should hunt a little bit farther out in the woods."
But other residents said that they eventually get used to the shotgun blasts and know that the hunters are far away.
Bexar County Sheriff's Office officials said that they have investigated complaints from residents, but haven't found any hunters in violation.
