POSTED: Tuesday, September 25, 2007
UPDATED: 12:55 pm CDT September 25, 2007

A city worker died after a tree limb fell on him near Brackenridge Park on Tuesday morning.

The worker had been helping his crew cut down old limbs from a tree when the limb fell from above and hit him in the chest around 10 a.m., officers said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The high limb had been resting on top of another limb, Sgt. Alfred Trinidad said.

When a worker tried to trim it to alleviate pressure, it fell off and landed on the worker below, Trinidad said.

The identity of the worker has not been released.
